This policy explains what personal information Nordlyte Web Studio ("we", "us") collects through nordlytewebstudio.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are a web design studio based in Kenya and we work with clients worldwide. You can reach us at hello@nordlytewebstudio.com.
What we collect
- Information you send us. When you use the quote form we receive your name, email address, phone number (optional), project type, current website address (optional) and your message. If you contact us by email, WhatsApp or book a call, we receive whatever details you share with us.
- Usage information. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the site. These tools collect data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you scroll and click. Clarity can also record anonymised session replays and heatmaps. - Technical information. Like any website, our hosting and the services we use may receive your IP address and browser details when you load a page.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and, if you hire us, deliver and support your project.
- To understand how the site performs and improve it.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam or misuse.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for automated decision-making.
Our legal basis (EU, UK and Kenya)
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on: taking steps at your request before a contract (replying to your enquiry and quoting); performing a contract (when you become a client); our legitimate interests in running and improving the site and keeping it secure; legal obligations; and, for analytics cookies where required, your consent.
Who we share it with
We use trusted providers to run the site and handle enquiries. They process data on our behalf or under their own terms:
- Formspree to deliver quote form submissions to us by email.
- Google (Analytics, and Google Fonts which loads the site fonts, so your IP address is sent to Google when the page loads).
- Microsoft (Clarity) for heatmaps and session replays.
- Calendly if you book a call through our scheduling link.
- WhatsApp (Meta) and your email provider if you contact us through them.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. Some of these providers are based outside Kenya, the EU and the UK, so your information may be transferred internationally. Where required, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to respond to you and, if you become a client, for the life of the project and the period afterwards we need for support, accounting and legal reasons. If an enquiry does not lead to a project, we delete it after a reasonable period. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings in those tools.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to processing, a portable copy, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email hello@nordlytewebstudio.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to your local regulator: the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya, the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, or your national data protection authority in the EU.
Children
Our services are for businesses and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
